The Ann Arbor Public School Elementary Librarians have compiled summer activities that will keep you reading and active. Click on the “tent” and scroll down to see the choice boards the Librarians have put together. Check out the links at the top to see eBook recommendations and more summer fun activities. Be sure to click on the “globe” to find books and information about race and social justice. Rain or shine, indoors or out - you are bound to have fun at our virtual summer reading camp!

Inventors and Inventions - My Invention
Hi Lawton Leopards! Now that you have had a chance to learn about some inventors and inventions, I would like you to think of an invention of your own. Remember, an inventor is someone who creates something new.
To learn more about inventors and inventions, click on link to the book "Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?" by Patrice McLaurin. You will learn about more inventors and see that many inventions help solve a problem. For example, the invention of the clock helps us to be on time. The invention of the traffic signal helps us be safe, and the invention of the refrigerator helps us keep food fresh.
Instructions:
1. Click on the link to read the book "Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?" by Patrice McLaurin

2. Think about a problem that you would like to solve.

PebbleGo is a kid-friendly searchable database that covers a variety of research topics. Five main modules - Animals, Science, Biographies, Social Studies and Dinosaurs are divided into topics and subtopics.
Important Inventions-Cameras
1. Log into your Clever account.
2. Click on PebbleGo
3. Click on Science
4. Click on Important Inventions
5. Click on Cameras
6. Listen to or read the information about cameras. Be sure to click on all the tabs.
7. Optional: List three things you learned about cameras and share them with someone in your home.

3. Once logged in, click on the TypingClub icon. Spend about 30 minutes practicing your typing. This is a great skill that you will use as you get bigger.
4. Remember to use all 10 fingers, and place fingers on the Home Row!
